Berzelius Symposium 110: TBE in clinical practice 2024
Welcome to the Berzelius Symposium 110 – TBE in clinical practice October 4-5 at the Elite Park Avenue Hotel in Gothenburg
Tick-borne encephalitis – Diagnostics, treatment and prevention
Tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) can be a very severe disease and given the increased incidence in Europe we are seeing the consequences in terms of neurological or neuropsychological sequelae in 30-40% of clinical cases. We lack treatment possibilities and consensus for optimal rehabilitation after the acute phase. Diagnostics are evolving but still not available for all patients. Vaccination is an effective prevention although there are knowledge gaps to fill in how to protect certain groups better.
The aim of this Berzelius symposium, arranged by the Swedish Society of Medicine, is to focus on the clinical aspects of diagnostics, treatment, rehabilitation, and prevention of TBE. Weare happy to invite clinicians seeing and diagnosing TBE patients in Europe; primary health care, paediatricians, internal medicine and infectious diseases clinicians, neurologists and microbiologists.
